Zero-rating on the EcoSGE platform

The universal EcoSGE platform meets all the requirements to provide free access to Internet services.

A typical scheme for including EcoSGE in the operator’s network:

Most common EcoSGE installation location is in front of the edge router. However, the EcoSGE connection scheme may differ from the typical one depending on the characteristics of the customer’s network.

Due to the flexibility of Eco-solutions, on the basis of one platform, you can get not one, but several functionalities at once:

• CG-NAT with translation logging for SORM needs through Syslog and Netflow v9;
• BRAS – service gateway for limiting the access speed to subscribers, disconnecting non-payers with redirecting to the portal (“time to pay” page);
• URL-Filtering – filtering subscribers according to prohibited list, providing the Children’s Internet service;
• DPI – multi-protocol traffic analysis up to the application level (Layer 7) and its management;
• QoE – collection of statistical data on which the quality of perception is assessed (Quality of Experience), various metrics are compiled for further analysis of user experience and flexible management of the quality of delivered services. Also, this solution is perfect for troubleshooting, especially for analyzing issues behind CPE (customer premises equipment).

EcoZR is EcoSGE with the activated URL-Filtering, BRAS and CG-NAT functionality (optional). Activating Address Translation (CG-NAT) naturally allows HTTP / HTTPS requests and responses from Web resources to pass through EcoSGE, but in some networks the traffic passes through EcoSGE symmetrically.

Depending on whether the customer is currently using an EcoSGE device and how it is connected, the following options for obtaining an EcoZR solution are possible:

1. There is no EcoSGE in the network – installation of a new EcoSGE with URL-Filtering, BRAS and CG-NAT licenses (optional) in the traffic gap;
2. The network already uses EcoSGE as a CG-NAT solution – just activate the URL-Filtering and BRAS licenses on it so that EcoZR can be implemented on the same device;
3. The network already uses EcoSGE as a URL-Filtering / QoE / DPI solution, and at the same time the subscriber traffic passes through EcoSGE, that is, EcoSGE does not work with a copy of the traffic – just activate BRAS / URL-Filtering + BRAS / URL licenses on it -Filtering + BRAS and CG-NAT (optional), respectively;
4. The network already uses EcoSGE as a URL-Filtering / QoE / DPI solution, and at the same time only a copy of the traffic is sent to EcoSGE: – first of all, it will be necessary to change the EcoSGE switching scheme so that subscriber traffic passes directly through it; – secondly, activation of additional licenses, as in the previous case;
5. The network already uses EcoSGE as BRAS, URL-Filtering and CG-NAT (optional) solutions – you don’t need to purchase anything, to get EcoZR you just need to make the appropriate changes to the device configuration.
